It is with great sadness that Alida Delport has left this life for the next on 29 June 2017. Alida has left a void which will be difficult to fill, her enthusiasm, her constant encouragement and support will sorely be missed. Her dedication and contribution to the cat world many will bear witness of. Her legacy will be far reaching particularly in respect of the Burmilla programme, where many frowned upon her bravery and tenacity to launch this programme in South Africa. Alida taught so many enthusiasts, walked the path of breeding which at times was not easy, supported so many in their times of distress when a queen was in labour and shared their happy times as well. Always readily available to assist wherever her assistance was required. Alida also took cat shows to the more outlying areas, hosting successful cat shows in Darling, Robertson and Franschhoek. In loving memory and honour of Alida the Chats du Cap Cat Club will continue hosting cat shows in Darling and Robertson and will be named the Alida Delport Chats du Cap cat shows.

If you can assist, please let us know.On this photo, she was with judge Johan Lamprecht at the Robertson show last year where her Tonkinese Apricot Point kitten, Loeloeraai Camden, won the CDCi Best in Show award.

  • Robertson City Cat - Country Cat Winners The Battle of the Cats goes on since the first Robertson show in 2013, whereby the public vote for their favourite cat. Depending on where the owner lives, the cat is classified as either a City Cat or a Country Cat. The cat with the highest votes in each class wins the appropriate "City Cat" or "Country Cat" award. Between these two cats, the one with the highest score gets the additional title of "Festival Winner".It seems that the Original Longhair Silver cats, which in general speak are referred to as "Chinchillas", are the most popular among the public. This year the Festival Winner, like last year, was a city cat Chinchilla. The name of this year's favourite ...

Chats du Cap (Cats of the Cape) is a non-profit organization with a passion to host championship cat shows enhanced by the beauty of the Western Cape.

Show standards followed are set by the World Cat Federation (WCF). This enables us to offer both international and independent cat shows.

Our name originated when we studied the WCF certification system. We encountered the French term "Certi-ficat d'Aptitude au Championnat" (Championship Aptitude Certificate). Because the French Huguenots had a significant influence on the history of the Western Cape, we found it apt to honour them by using French in naming the club.

Independent Cat Shows are hosted
by Chats du Cap Independent
Cat Shows (CDCi).
International Cat Shows are hosted by the Chats du Cap CASA Sub-club (CDC). This sub-club has the WCF registration number ZA-0215-05.
CDC as CASA sub-club was officially announced at the 22nd International CASA cat show on 20 March 2010 at the Oakdale Club in Bellville.

CASA is associated with the World Cat Federation. The latter is an inter-national organization that operates in 6 continents in 31 countries with over 370 single member organizations distributed worldwide.

The WCF is an international organization operating in 31 countries. They were also a founder member of the World Cat Congress (WCC).
